Lockdown 1

Disclaimer: I kept this really light-hearted however, I do know that lockdown was very difficult for a lot of people.

The beginning

Just before the lockdown when people found out about the virus. It didn’t seem real.

To be honest I thought people were overreacting(obviously, I was unaware of the significance of covid 19).

My parents didn’t seem worried and my teachers were taking masks away from people who wore them.

Everyone who was rushing to the shops and shouting at people to keep their distance was weird.

I remember the assembly to tell us that we were going to lockdown.

They have yr 11’s and 13’s in the assembly.

I don’t really remember much but I do remember that my headteacher said this ‘I am just as annoyed as you are that you cannot take your exams’.

Knowing her she probably actually thought that.

After they warned us and told us to stay at home.

I remember my friend turning to me and saying ‘well, I am still going out’.

Remember we didn’t know how bad covid was going to be.

Going home was boring because the person I usually went home with was out of school because her mum didn’t want her there. Which is fair enough.

I was excited to go into lockdown.

First, I wouldn’t have to wake up as early because I wake up EARLY. The other thing was that if I didn’t do work, what were they going to do come to my house?

My exams

The government said that we were not going to do our exams but I didn’t trust them.

I ended up keeping my notes till august just to be sure.

My school made us do work until May and then we did taster sessions for A level.

I didn’t really do the continuation of GCSE work unless it was a scary teacher.

I did the A level work because I only had two lessons and it wasn’t much.

In other words, for the 6 months, I did nothing and I loved it.

March

As I said I was doing a continuation of GCSE.

A lot of my teachers basically stopped teaching me and as an over-thinker who was expecting the government to just decide that our exams were back on.

It wasn’t great.

I, well my dad, decide that we were going to get in shape.

So every morning at 7 we would wake up and do some exercise. Squats, burpees, crutches.

However, by the end of March that had stopped.

April

My mum gave birth to my brother, it was weird because it means that there is a MASSIVE age gap between us.

However, that was stress.

Sadly due to complications, my mum was in the hospital for nearly a month before my brother was born, she is fine now.

As the eldest, I had to pick up a lot more while she wasn’t home and my and my other sibling couldn’t go because of covid.

It was weird not seeing my mum and my dad could only go a few time.

But when she came home I was so happy and meeting my baby brother was still amazing whether I met him on the day he was born or a few days later.

Things were a little different at home because of the new addition but there was a pandemic going on so everything was different. Because of my lack of work from school, due to me not doing my exams, I was able to help my mum a lot more. I know for some people this lockdown was boring and really affected their mental health but for me it was eventful. This being the only event.

June-August

I decided to exercise again.

I had downloaded this app and I was doing well.

It was hard because I wasn’t doing anything crazy but I did do something so I guess that counts.

I carried on till August. I didn’t mean to stop but I just kept missing days and slowly I stopped.

I did promise myself that I would start when school started again.

Mental health

Before I write this if anyone feels like they are depressed or there are other things please seek help.

Mental health is a serious thing and It ok if you need help. It is harder to say that there is something wrong than to say that you are fine.

I don’t think my mental health was effected that much. I don’t really like being around people so lockdown wasn’t that bad for me. Also, I live with other people so there was always something going on. Whether it was me or my siblings.

Let me know in the comments what kind of exercise or events happened to you.
